Getting Quality Insurance Leads with LinkedIn – Your Profile Matters!

With so many social media networks popping up, it can be hard to determine which ones are best to use as prospecting tools. With some 135 million users, LinkedIn proves to be one of the top social networks to generate insurance leads for any insurance business, especially because it’s one of the few social media networks that’s primarily focused on business and professional networking.

At the same time, many want to jump in with both feet without thinking through a strategy that can help them truly optimize LinkedIn to generate leads. But why waste your time? If you’re going to set up a LinkedIn profile, then do it right so you can quickly and consistently generate the number of quality insurance leads you want.

When trying to generate insurance leads with LinkedIn, you must start with a strong foundation; which means having a fully completed and optimized profile from the start (even before you begin networking and prospecting for leads).

Fully complete your LinkedIn profile.

When you don’t have a fully completed profile, it can look unprofessional. When people land on your page, if they don’t see what they’re looking for, or can’t easily identify what you do, they’ll quickly leave and won’t take you seriously. To generate a network that will produce more leads, you want a fully completed profile page with:

1. A professional image: Studies show that images matter. People are more likely to click on a link or profile if an image is attached, so you want to load a profile image that’s professional and represents you or your business.

2. A catchy headline: Create a professional, to-the-point, and relative headline that will target the types of leads and professionals you’re looking for. Consider looking at others’ headlines to see what pops out to you to get some ideas.

3. Completed sections: Fully, accurately, and professionally complete the summary, specialties, and interest and groups sections, and so on for your profile page. Take the opportunity to share who you are and what you do for your target market to see.

Give recommendations on LinkedIn to help you generate leads.

Another aspect of fully completing your LinkedIn profile page is getting recommendations. For LinkedIn to officially give your profile a ‘completed’ stamp of approval, you need at least three recommendations on your profile. A great way to get recommendations is to give them to others, and then ask for one in return. Recommendations help build credibility within your network.
